So all I asked for was that I would sleep late tomorrow for my day off. Is that too much to ask for????Is it? Apparently it is. Because if you see the picture about a half hour ago when I was about to go to sleep, a chunk of the ceiling decided to fall down on my bed. I left a message for the landlord who I spoke to 3 times last week about the heat and spoke to the interim super. BUT WHAT THE HELL????
I really don't know why I am paying so much rent to NOT sleep in my own bed for at least a week.
So I just went to the store for my afternoon caffiene fix and what do I see? CHERRY COKE ZERO!!!! the world is now a happier place for it!!! My coke zero has been improved. It is these small things in life that can make me happy.
I hate this wind!!! Cold weather I can take but what is up with the wind. I can't imagine all those really skinny girls all over the city going out in this weather because don't they just get blown away????

While we do once again have heat in our apartment, it is really sporatic (I like that word) when it will or will not go on. I don't believe that it is really timed or anything because it goes on at different times every night. Then I am cold and end up sleeping in a hooded sweatshirt and wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I am burning up and being smothered by something.
It's all really weird.

I know I have not posted in a few days and for that there are several reasons:

1)Nothing new to report - I am sure I can make up some stuff though just for your amusement.
2)We need to thank my friend DB for fixing my computer and making it better instead of tossing it out the window like I know he wanted to. He is a hero for now :)

So I got a 6:30 call this morning that despite the snow and non-clear roads that I do have work this morning. Whoo hoo!

So what is going on here....

Sunday I spent the weekend with the Pet, on Sunday we went from store to store to store for her to try to find dinner and flatware that she likes. I found something I like but that doesn't really help. She bought me a nice grill pan as a consolation prize.

There is another Heedoosh concert coming up... this time it is a big one at the knitting factory and I recommend buying tickets in advance....They are on itunes now which I find amusing.

I think we are going... I realize that my birthday ends up on a friday that week so I am sure we will make some other plans also.

Last night my trainer called me to tell me that she got promoted but it is bad news for me because they are transferring her to some gym in Park Slope to manage buuuut thats bad for me because she can't come to the city to train now. So she is going to find me another trainer to kick my butt, but I liked her, she was good and I got used to her and everything. So wish me luck!

Need to go get some coffee, to be continued....

Once again we didn't have heat in our apartment last night, so I took a picture of me bundled under a zillion blankets...

I don't know why some people presume I actually have something to blog about. Am I just here for your amusement? Don't you people have work to do? (AHEM Pet)
Maybe my brain cells are just frozen from the lack of heat.

Anyways I will babble on about some nonsense.

So you remember when I lost my phone on New Year's Eve? Well, I called that night around 4am to suspend the service. The next morning around 9:30 I went to t-mobile I got a brand new phone, same number and a new contract. Everything fine. right? Wrong! On Jan. 31 my phone wasnt working so I went online to check if there were any outages and it said my phone was CANCELLED! But I didn't cancel my phone so I called t-mobile around 8:30 to complain and they said, well we cancel any phones 30 days after they have been declared lost unless you call. So I told them I went to the store the next day and signed a new contract so they said they would restore the service. 12:30 I called again because they hadn't done anything....what a pain. So they gave me free minutes, but still, it was a stupid mistake.

I just called our landlord because of the serious lack of heat in our apartment.

So my mother is signing me up for singles events without telling me again. Is this normal. Last time she did that it was scary.

Anyways. If you haven't seen the Weezer/Muppet video and you are a fan of either or both. YOU MUST SEE IT.

So Saturday night after a long (but fun) weekend with lots o' kids, Rebecca made me go out and for the second time in my life I got hit on by a chick...it was weird.

My friend sent me this picture this morning because I love Duff Goldman.

So I will post another picture soon. My trip was good but very tiring and busy. Tuesday we went on a tour of the Pentagon which was very cool. It was interesting. It looks like a mall inside - no joke, with stores and everything. We also has a ceremony at the EPA and few people spoke including the Surgeon General so all in all it was worth it to go and a good trip.

Now I am back in NYC, flaming garbage can and all. I am busy at work, finishing those report cards, going a little nuts (a little more nuts), moving right along, trying to figure out life like usual. :)
So I am back now...
The first image being back in New York is seeing the police trying to put out a garbage can that was on fire in Penn Station. Is that normal? I think it is a great image for people to get when they first arrive in New York. Oh, welcome to the city, you can't get off the train because some idiot decided to ignite a garbage can!

So today I went down to breakfast and found some other people looking lost and such so I asked and they were also from our group. I had breakfast with some really nice people from Salt Lake City, Utah and the other people are from Alabama, upstate NY, and PA so its kind of an interesting mix. Most of the people who came have never been to Washington before so it is also interesting to hear their perspective on everything. They also were telling me where they were from they made a really big deal about the contest and were interviewed by local news and honored by the mayor and stuff which just doesn't happen in a city like New York. Also, I am the youngest adult here. (ha ha I know what you are thinking) and I got some interesting "You're the teacher?" reactions from people which I think I was prepared for. Also there are kids who answer their teachers, "yes ma'am" ??? That doesn't happen in NY does it? It's kind of cool.
Today was a crazy day of touring all you can see in one day. I need to go back to some of these places and y'all know how much I love museums. The minerals and gems at the Smithsonian is unbelievable. I really likee looking at all the different crystal formations of minerals and I know so little about it. It is a part of science I really never learned before. We never learned earth science in school because I took some other science instead so I feel like I really want to learn it. All and all it's been an interesting experience so far. Tomorrow is when all the ceremonies and stuff are.
The thing is, when we get back to the hotel it is 8 and I am a little bored because there is no one here with me. It's a really nice room, but I think I said before, what is the point if there is no one to share it with? Does that make sense. I mean I value time alone and I know I will get back to the city and be like I wish I was alone, but certain times it is not all that to be all by yourself. Does this make sense. I think this might be why these blogs are ending up so long. My computer is really not working as it should but when I finally get online it is pretty much okay.

So right now I am typing from a hotel room in Washington DC It's a really nice room, nice hotel. Apparently they have had the presidents inaugural ball here every inauguration since Roosevelt which is kind of cool.

I was actually a fun day because I got here a day early than the program actually starts and Es decided to come down to DC for the day also so we went touring and stuff. We went to the National galleries, the National Archive, the Spy Museum and the portrait gallery. It was cool there were a few exhibits which were good like one on Josephine Baker who we read about also at the spy museum.

What was funny last night was when Es decided to come she looked up both trains and flights and it was cheaper to fly for the day! Then she ended up randomly in the seat next to me. Pretty funny. So it was a good day. It is actually much warmer here than it is in New York. After Es left I went back to the hotel. There is nothing to do here but watch tv. I have been trying to do some work on my computer but my computer has been a bit wonky and it took ages for me to get online at all....so I don't know if I am actually going to get any work done. I will probably go to sleep soon because we are supposed to meet up for breakfast at 8 and then go to Arlington Cemetary the thing is I have heard from no one on this trip yet. I know other people got in today but I dont know anyone but I think its a little weird that the organizers didn't leave us messages or anything.

Also it says to "dress casual" tomorrow and "a little more dressy" the next day. What does that mean? So I basically brought a whole lot of black because you can't go wrong in black. I might look a little morbid though. We shall see.

Anyways, about all the stuff I said I didn't understand before, I still don't understand. I think that everytime I take a risk and put myself out there or really stand up for things it backfires at me. I think that is happening again. I really don't know. I think it is good that I am away for a few days and occupied with other things than the usual.

report cards...ugh

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Someone asked me this weekend what the point of blogging was, I really am not sure I can answer. I blog because I have all these useless ramblings in my head that I need to get rid of and I already bore my roommates and friends to death when I talk to them.
So for some reason I cannot seem to shake this cough. The doctor told me it is how my body is reacting to the changing weather. It's a little annoying when you have to cough or drink water every two seconds when you are trying to teach.
Did everyone see the first snow of the season earlier today? It was only a little bit but all my students got very excited.
While I was teaching I asked the kids what parisitism was. One of the students responded, " that parisitism is to visit all the sites in paris" I thought it was hilarious.

Anyways, for those who don't know. I lost my phone over new year's weekend and I don't have everyones numbers anymore. I have the same number as my old one, so you can still contact me. But I know some of you (cat) have been wondering where I have been. I actually will be going to Washington DC for a few days next week, but will have my phone on me. I am not sure yet if I will be bringing my computer so I do not know if I will be able to check email.

Looking for a cd by a band acharit hayamim that I heard a friend of mine play...I googled it and got nothing really worthwhile. Anyone able to help?
To sum up the events thus far:

I don't understand men AT ALL.
Someone needs to explain the game of football to me.
My bestest friend is moving to London.
My trainer is trying to kill me....

I will elaborate later.

For those of you who are interested, there is a Heedoosh \ Piamenta event in Brooklyn next week. Here is the info:
